Shaw is a major producer of quality washed, natural concrete sand, with two plants supplying the eastern Canadian Marketplace. A 5mm minus washed and tightly graded sand used in conjunction with Portland cement and coarse aggregate in the manufacture of high quality concrete mixes. Shaw Resources' concrete sand meets or exceeds the CSA Standard A23.1-04 and the standard specification of the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation and Public Works for product quality. Other concrete sand applications include pipe bedding, traction sand, block sand, and general purpose sand. Concrete sand is available in bulk from Shaw Resources, or in 25kg (55lb) bags as a premix blend from concrete mix, sand mix, or fast-set mix.
